Craighouse Middle Section celebrated book day on 25th of April to promote reading books.

¨We wanted to organize fun activities that all students could participate in and that would celebrate reading,¨ said Mr. Andres Soto, a teacher in the Spanish Department.

For the Spanish activities, students in groups decorated the classrooms and doors with a theme of a book. This occured at the last 3 periods of school. Teachers dressed up as book characters.

"The Spanish and English Department made fascinating activities where everybody participated," Miss Heidy Chinchon, the Middle Section Librarian said.

The pupils met by an online video chat with their favorite writers of the books that they have read. One of them was Teresa Paneque of the book El Universo Según Carlota.

For the English activities, students made bookmarks, decorated potatoes, and sent pictures of themselves doing “Extreme Reading.”

¨I was pleasantly surprised specifically by the high turnout for the potato character creations! Students were literally asking for more potatoes to dress up,¨ said Ms. Kerri Decker, an English teacher in the Middle Section.

The students decorated potatoes of story characters during the breaks.

Next year the international date for book day is on Sunday, 23 of April.
